Bang & Olufsen x Saint Laurent(Mashable)

July 16, 2019

The article first appeared on the Mashable.

How many times have you pointed out at your speaker and said, “Oh! This little thing, it’s made by one of the biggest fashion houses of France.” Chances of that happening are probably very slim but you might want to think about it again because it's 2019 and a designer house making electronics is actually not so far-fetched.

Enter, Saint Laurent with their latest collaboration with not one, not two but, three electronic companies to come out with designer speakers and earphones.

Starting off with Danish electronics giant, Bang and Olufsen, Saint Laurent put its own new spin on the already existing Beoplay A9 and A1 speakers. In celebration of their Rive Droite concept stores opening up in Los Angeles and Paris, the fashion house has given the voice-enabled speakers an all-black makeover. Using anodised aluminium, the speakers have a sleek finish and are emblazoned with Saint Laurent’s iconic logo. The love for design and finessed artistry in regards to both the brands drove the collaboration.

Following close on the heels of this collab, Saint Laurent raised the ante by pulling off two collaborations with YEVO and Happy Plugs.

While Happy Plugs has created lightning cables and wired earphones which feature the luxury fashion house’s well-known branding, a couple of them have cheetah and zebra prints which are synonymous with Saint Laurent.

On the other hand, YEVO in collaboration with Saint Laurent has come out with a series of Air True Wireless Bluetooth Earphones which come in a matte black colourway with the choice of gold and silver trim. Now if the looks of these earphones won’t make you go ‘Ooh la la’, then we don’t know what will. But to humour you just a little more, here’s a lowdown on the specs of these earphones.

Firstly, they are sweat-proof AND dust-proof so you don’t have to worry about these babies getting ruined when you squeeze in that extra cardio session at the gym. But the cherry on top here is that the earphones are compatible with Android, iOS, and even Windows. Add the snazzy charging case to the mix and you have playback for up to 14 hours. I mean, how much of an over-achiever can you be?
