For the Resort 2019 season, Paco Rabanne Artistic Director Julien Dossena envisaged an escape to Brittany – imagining La Parisienne off on a seaside escape. Unpicking French classicism, traditional techniques are revisited through streamlined draping and a sleek clash of nostalgic prints. Complementing the season’s exploration of technical fabrications, two unique outerwear creations by Julien Dossena for Paco Rabanne are constructed in the ateliers of Guy Cotten, the iconic French specialist in protective clothing. Based in Brittany since 1964, this heritage brand is a world leader in the development and manufacture of technical waterproof clothing for industrial and recreational purposes, playing a crucial role in the worlds of marine sports, fishing, agriculture, and outdoor recreation. The two styles by Julien Dossena adapt and evolve existing Guy Cotten designs with new shapes and unique Paco Rabanne details, whilst retaining inherent technical details from high-frequency welding to thermal-bonded and taped seams. Both garments feature a kimono sleeve construction and Guy Cotten’s signature Magic Hood, allowing maximum movement and protection – exemplifying Paco Rabanne’s dedication to utility, craftsmanship, and contemporary elegance.
The RAINCOAT The Paco Rabanne raincoat is cut in Guy Cotten’s signature ‘yellow oilskin’ waterproof textile, elongated with a softly A-line silhouette. PACO RABANNE logos appear printed across the upper back panel and stamped into a concealed black Velcro strip alongside the front zip, whilst the ‘PR’ monogram is embossed on external hardware.
The TRENCH COAT The Paco Rabanne trench coat is crafted in Guy Cotten’s black rubberized waterproof textile for a soft hand feel and matte finish. A more accentuated A-line shape and high-waisted belt placement creates a slimline urban silhouette in this tough, ultralight fabric with a detachable toggle hood construction that snaps to embossed shoulder straps. With the Magic Hood worn down, the PACO RABANNE logo appears printed discreetly in white on a high stand collar.
