21 Squared App Promotes Body Positivity With Shopping Platform Dedicated To Curves

“THE CURVY APP” AIMS TO MATCH WOMEN WITH THOSE WHO HAVE SIMILAR BODY SHAPES TO HELP SIMPLIFY THE SHOPPING PROCESS

To Celebrate the App Launch, 21Squared hosted a party in LA at the Plus Bus Boutique.

September 17, 2018 --- 21Squared, the first peer-to-peer shopping platform dedicated to women with curves, is spreading the message of body positivity by offering a social outlet for the curvy and plus size community to shop and share the latest looks that best fit their style and body shape. Also known as The Curvy App, 21Squared offers users the chance at earning rewards, including the option to donate to the nonprofit The Body Positive to give back to the community.

"The 21Squared app is awesome because it offers a platform for people who live in large bodies to find community, while also offering lots of fashion inspiration. Seeing one's unique body type represented expands imagination for what's possible in one's relationship to clothing," says Naomi Finkelstein, Director of Programs and Communication, The Body Positive.

Currently available on iOS and to US consumers, 21Squared combines artificial intelligence and user-generated content to help users assess the fit of garments before they order online. Through the algorithm, a user is matched with other users who have a similar body shape to help offer recommendations for clothing that may best fit them and their style. The app features over 45 retail partners, giving users the opportunity to earn rewards if another user shops their look.

Chrystal Bougon, Owner and Resident Curvy Girl at Curvy Girl Lingerie, says “I think it is going to be a powerful and useful tool for women of size. This is amazing. We are so use to being neglected. It feels great to think that a company was actually taking my plus size sisters and me into consideration when developing a new tool.”

This past week, 21Squared was an official sponsor of CURVYcon during New York Fashion Week and continues to sponsor events promoting body positivity including a party at the Plus Bus Boutique in Glassell Park on September 13th and a networking mixer hosted by Jasmine Reeder of Curvaceous Lush in San Francisco on September 21.

“As an avid online shopper, I’ve always had to guess how the product would look on me. Retailers fail to show us diverse body types even when selling plus size clothing items. Now with the 21Squared platform, I don’t have to guess, and most importantly there’s women that look like me,” says Reeder.
